NO PLAN –just heart– & gloves... 🧤 😬 🐿️

Hi Reader,

This week I was walking Luna 🐶🦮 near our house & found a chipmunk 🐿️ in the road –which is not at all unusual for New England because they're everywhere. Just like with squirrels, these little guys are a dime a dozen, but they're much cuter than squirrels somehow. 🤭

It didn't look dead, but this chipmunk wasn't moving as we walked closer to it. I shortened Luna's leash as we got even closer & it still wasn't moving, –because, hound dog vs prey? Not a thing I wanted to participate in. 😳

Standing maybe 2 ft from it, it still hadn't moved, so I let Luna sniff in its direction to see if it'd finally decide to scurry off somewhere –but it STILL wasn't moving, yet I could see it breathing. With no visible injuries, no erratic (scary) behavior, it seemed hurt & I kinda wanted to help it. 😬

So, I did what any bleeding-hearted animal lover would do & called my husband who shares the same trait. 😂 Ever my hero, he arrived shortly after where I waited beside it (with Luna being surprisingly patient beside me) with gloves and a lidded box, picked it up with little to no trouble, put it inside the box & closed the lid, then took it home to call some wildlife sanctuaries to see if we could get it some help.

No one that could take it (not all places accept small mammals like chipmunks) picked up though, at 7:30p on a Tuesday in a rural area. One person did give us some helpful information –like the fact that (thankfully) chipmunks are almost never a carrier of rabies. 😮‍💨 ...Still keeping the gloves on though! lol

We left a bunch of messages at misc sanctuaries around us within a reasonable drive and today we're waiting on their call back to see who can take it in.

And –here's what this whole situation 👆🏼 made me think about:

1️⃣ It’s so damn cute, am I right?!

Anyone else feeling the @charliethechipmunk vibes? 😂 No? Just me? 🤭 (IYKYK)

Also, for the sake of ease, I'm nicknaming it 'Peanut'. heeheehee

2️⃣ Don’t ignore the Still-But-Breathing Parts of Your Business

That chipmunk? Totally still. But still breathing. No visible injuries, and yet something is clearly wrong.

How many parts of your business look alive on the outside but are actually... not okay? 🫣

Maybe it’s your client process that’s duct-taped together with Google Docs and a million emails, Voxer's, and/or texts. Maybe it’s the lack of boundaries that leaves you answering emails at 9:47pm because “you want to be helpful.”

Just because something isn’t completely dead doesn’t mean it’s healthy. And just because you can technically keep going like this does NOT mean you should.

Sometimes those not-quite-dead systems need a little attention. A better container. A tighter boundary. A plan for revival instead of ignoring it until it flatlines.

3️⃣ Let It Be Messy, But Kind

I didn’t have a step-by-step chipmunk-rescue SOP. (Honestly, who does? 😅)
But I did what I could with what I had—called in backup, found some resources, and made decisions with care.

And honestly? That’s how most good things in business start.
Not with a perfect plan, but with a gut feeling, a nudge of curiosity, and a willingness to try—even if it’s clumsy.

When I first started my business, I waited way too long to launch or change anything unless it was polished and “professional” but now? I’d rather take imperfect action quickly and improve as I go. Showing up with heart right now, beats showing up with a flawless final product 12+ months from now, because if you wait until it's "perfect" you're NOT helping anyone at all while you tweak it to death.

Be kind. Be messy. Be willing to try without knowing exactly how it’ll play out.
That’s where the magic is!

And if we're talking about fixing systems & processes... then I can't move on without remind you how I can help:

📣 Fix your still-breathing-but-struggling client project process

You don’t need gloves and a shoebox...(or a distressed rodent) you just need a better system.🤭

My Ultimate Client Portal System is the box-with-airholes your client projects have been gasping for.

It gives you plug-and-play templates, clear tutorials, and a done-for-you setup that will bring simplistic order to the chaos without stripping out your personality or overcomplicating anything for anyone (you, or your clients).

If you’re tired of duct-taping your process together with PayPal, Google Drive, and massive email threads—this is your sign. 👇🏼

🆕 Give your website project's content & copy a faster head start

If your client content process is one of those “still breathing but barely functioning” situations… I’ve got you.

My brand new AI Website Copy Masterclass is the bite-sized brain upgrade your biz didn’t know it needed.

You’ll get my exact form template (built on the free plan of Tally.so), the AI prompts I use with clients, and a behind-the-scenes peek at how I get strong, on-brand website draft copy without writing it all from scratch.

It’s pulled straight from my Ultimate Client Portal System, but packaged solo for anyone who doesn’t want the full system—or doesn’t use Kitchen.co. 👇🏼

👆🏼 Chipmunk not included, –but either way, content & copywriting help absolutely is! 🐿️💬

There's no blog/video this week! It was a holiday weekend for us in the US & I didn't plan ahead for it. I could've made it work, but honestly it was more important to take advantage of the break in our near-constant rain lately, to soak up some sunshine, enjoy clear blue skies, and even mow the yard. 😂

Here are some things I've been working on lately though:

📊 Financial Survey Report

Diane & I are making some headway on the report! It's looking good, the insights are fascinating (as expected!), and it will be much 'fancier' than a PDF, so we're REALLY excited to finish that up, hopefully this week. 🤞🏻

🥳 Testing Dubsado v3.0 (Alpha)

Reaction video recorded & coming soon so you can see the new version. I'm LOOOVING it so far! Providing a bit of feedback while using it too, to help make it even better, –but it's about damn time they updated it! I think all Dubsado users will be happy with the changes.

💰 HoneyBook Discounts

I've been a longtime fan of Dubsado, but HoneyBook is its closest competitor to date, and I know it's a great tool despite never using it myself. It's something I've said in countless conversations, comments, blogs & videos over the years, because it does have a great reputation even among systems experts.

So imagine my surprise when they showed up in my inbox & asked if I wanted to be an affiliate! 🤔 I replied & told them I'm a big Dubsado fan and have no plans to change CRMs, but I know HB is a high-quality option for people that don't like Dubsado & I'd be open to the idea if they don't mind that I prefer their competitor. LOL – They still wanted me on board!

I'm happy to announce: now I can offer Dubsado-haters 25% OFF on your HoneyBook subscription with code LAUNCH25! (Ironically, that's actually slightly more of a discount than I can even give for Dubsado. 🤭)

🤖 Website Content Collection & Copywriting

A Club member requested that I make my Content Guide form template & tutorial videos for how to use submission data from clients with AI to write the website copy –– a standalone resource for anyone that doesn't want to use Kitchen.co's portal system because they actually like their current portal system (in Bonsai for example).

Since I don't use Bonsai anymore (they do genuinely have a pretty good portal feature, –unlike Dubsado– I tested it out in this video), I hadn't considered that before, but she was right & I thought it was a great suggestion!

In true 'start messy' fashion, I decided to go ahead & set up the checkout & delivery in ThriveCart first, –before it even has a shop page on my site. 😂

Hi Reader, obligatory grad pic Yesterday, I was *rudely* informed (via a random classmate's post on Facebook) that it was 20 years to-the-day, of when I graduated high school. 🤯 The person who posted this (on her own profile –I just happened to see it), was sharing an official-looking grad portrait in her Valedictorian robes, tassel, hat & whatever else, –and I thought 2 things: She looks GREAT! Hasn't aged a day. 😃🤔 ...quickly followed by: Wait ––do I even have any pictures of myself from...

Hi Reader, Luna waiting on fresh cut grass With all the rain we got over about a solid week, –when the sunshine finally came out our grass POPPED up out of nowhere practically overnight! My husband mowed one half of our yard on Monday, and yesterday I mowed the other half in Luna's fenced yard. It took about an hour. I made that first pass around the fence line, getting as close as I could with the mower. I had my AirPods in to literally plug my ears & block out some of the loud noise of the...

Hi Reader, Batching content is a great way to get 'more done faster', –if you're doing it right. I always thought it meant do a bunch of similar tasks in the same time period, but specifically do them each from start to finish, back to back. So I'd write down a bunch of ideas for new posts/content one day... and then when I was ready to work on those, I'd write one whole post, make the graphic, schedule the post, and then start over for the next one, –over and over again in that cycle. Later...
