Hi Reader,
Batching content is a great way to get 'more done faster', –if you're doing it right.
I always thought it meant do a bunch of similar tasks in the same time period, but specifically do them each from start to finish, back to back. So I'd write down a bunch of ideas for new posts/content one day... and then when I was ready to work on those, I'd write one whole post, make the graphic, schedule the post, and then start over for the next one, –over and over again in that cycle.
Later I realized that people who do 'batching' well are doing it much differently, and much more drilled down. Instead of doing each larger part of the batching task from start to finish (1 blog post at a time & all the things that go with each post), the more efficient thing to do is to segment it out into LITERALLY similar tasks:
- think = brainstorm down all your ideas in one batching session
- outline = ask AI to help you outline all of those ideas in a different batching session
- record = if you record videos for those posts, record a the video for each post in another batching session
- edit = come back later to edit those videos in batches, preferably on a different day
- write = ask AI to help you turn those final videos into blog posts, using the transcript
- publish = schedule & optimize the blog & video posts with the help of AI, in yet another batching session
See the difference? If you did that whole process from start to finish for EACH blog/video post, it's far less likely that you'd get more than 1 combo post done in a single session. But if you break it up into chunks that require a similar effort or skill, then you can work much faster on each part & accomplish the work more efficiently without context switching as you complete each part of the process in batches.
Why? Because brainstorming ideas requires a different part of our brain than writing the blog post content on each one, or making the blog post graphic, or getting on camera & talking about that topic, or editing the video recording, etc. If we can limit the work to parts of the process that require the same level of creativity & thought processes, we can fly through it much more quickly without having to switch back and forth between 'research assistant → graphic designer → video editor → film maker → web developer' etc. 🤭
That said... when I began editing this week's post, I realized I had batch recorded multiple videos wearing the same damn shirt. 😂🤦🏼♀️ Not the end of the world, and it definitely didn't make me want to re-record anything –because OMG nobody really GAF– but obviously I wasn't using ALL of my brain that day. 😬 Oops. *Tee-hee-hee!*

📅 Design Day with a past client
Last week a client emailed me asking about a clean up day –about 2 years after we launched her site. She said it's still working great but she wanted me to 'check under the hood' and make sure she's updating it correctly after making some changes herself. I was thrilled to hear she's still really enjoying Squarespace, as that site was one I migrated over from WordPress! 🙌
🤐 Malskdjfasdkofaosdif starts this week!
Yes, that's a purposeful non-sense word, not a typo, –and no I'm not sure if I can talk about it yet. 😂 Waiting to hear back on that, but excited about it! I think it'll be a fun experience. 🤫
🆕 Kitchen updates are coming NEXT week!
Stefan, CEO and Co-Founder, reached out to me last week & shared a sneak peek of what's about to be released & I'm SO excited about it! I don't have early access though, so I can't record any course/lesson updates until next week, but I can say that at least one or two of these new updates will be a very welcome change –one of which to the Conversations page type that I know at least one of you have specifically asked me about. So keep your eye out for updates in the ⚡️ Course Updates module! 🤩 Also –maybe their free plan* is ...back? LOL 🤷♀️
📞 Club's Monthly Group Call → Wed. May 7th!
Tomorrow's group call for All-Access members is at 11am Eastern and is usually around 2-3 hours long –it's like a coffee/cocktail party! –but productive! 😂 So come late or leave early, join with camera/mic on or off –you decide! We always have GREAT conversations in those calls. You can pre-submit questions from the link in the top menu from the Club Calendar page. Replays are usually available here the same day if ya can't make it live.

I love to organize & systematize things, and I genuinely enjoy learning & using tech... those character traits when put together make for a FANTASTIC shiny-object syndrome. 😬 So over the last 10 years, I've researched, explored, tested, and used A LOT of task/project management software. 🥴👇🏼

Last week: How I'm using AI
I legit went from skeptic to power-user THIS YEAR. 😆 Find out what I'm using AI to do & which tools are my favorite:

2-hr Brand Book
This little mini-course from Gemma Bonham-Carter has been on sale for $77, so I bought it to help make prompting faster/easier in Claude. I've been filling out mine this week. The prompt template is ~10 pgs long, and once it's done you can upload it to Claude projects & skip over the repetitive brand/personality instructions & guidance each time ya chat!

I tried Aragon.ai
I tested it last week (shared a couple pics in the comments here) to see if it was really worth all the hype & was pleasantly surprised with how good it actually is! I walked away with 70+ decent photos of 'me' –all AI generated– for ~ $100.
BUT... not a single generated image of the 100+ it made has my nose ring in it. 😭 And there were definitely some weird hands & fingers in a few of them! lol

Setup Guide for Breely
I've been using this scheduler the past week or so after Cal removed the ability to edit my customized email reminder messages... 😒 (on the free plan).
Between the AI setup agent (which worked surprisingly well!) and the edits I've made, I'm getting the hang of it! It's pretty powerful, and so cheap at just $7/mo. A great option!
I think a YouTube tutorial might be due soon! Whatcha think?

Book VIP Days on Autopilot
I think I've finally figured out how to set this up in Dubsado so clients can book this service package without my involvement (including choosing 4 or 8 hour blocks + the contract & invoice) so I can just show up & do the work when they're booked.
I'm not a Dubsado Certified Specialist, so I can't literally give ya the form templates, but I could totally teach you how it works & how I set it up! 🤔

That's it for now. Make sure ya watch this week's video for the my word-salad flub of the week: "simplificated" 😂 🤷♀️ And in the process, find out exactly which PM tools I tried before finally realizing [redacted] was my favorite. 🤣
See ya next time!
