Hi Reader,
Running a business solo means being the entire company.
Marketing department? ✔️ That's me.
Tech support? ✔️ Also me.
Customer Service,
Content Creation,
Video Editor,
Web & Graphic Designer,
Product Development,
Project Management,
Client Work—
✔️ yep, all still me. 🥴
And honestly, I've never felt so stretched thin. What did Bilbo say in Fellowship of the Ring? "I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread." 🍞🧈🧙🏻♂️
That's been my entire year so far. 😂
Which is basically why I'm becoming more obsessed with finding shortcuts. Not the lazy kind—the smart kind.
Because when you're doing the work of 5-10 people & trying to fit all that into a decent work week without putting in 14 hour days 7 days/week, ––every minute you can save on repetitive tasks is a minute you can spend on the stuff that actually grows your business.
Like last month: I actually spent two days manually downloading and optimizing hundreds of images from a client's Asset Library using a free Chrome extension —only to realize 2-3 weeks later that SEOSpace* can now download auto-optimized versions per page & possibly saved myself multiple steps. 🤦🏼♀️
Classic case of working harder, NOT smarter. (And also not able to keep up with software updates well enough to remember that feature existed when I could've used it!)
The truth is, efficient management of all these roles HAS TO rely on really good tools & automations that can help us do the work while we sleep or focus on other things in our life or business.
Ashley from Systems Over Stress explained this perfectly in this IG post: focusing on saving money, rather than creating/making money & investing in the right support systems to help us manage all the work, that keeps you stuck treading water instead of swimming from point A to B.
We rely on software to help us cross that gap!
So this week, I'm sharing one of those "work smarter, not harder" tutorials that'll save you literal hours of tedious work fixing this particular mistake later, —and make your website perform better in the process. (Using free or paid tools!)
